25. Feet and Balance
24m
This class focuses on restoring strength and awareness in the feet, which are the foundation of the body.
We begin with a foot opener and release to create space and mobility through the feet. Over time, the feet can become stiff and restricted from supportive shoes, flat surfaces, and lack of movement. This release helps wake up the joints of the feet and restore their natural mobility.
When the feet lose mobility and strength, the rest of the body often has to compensate. Weak or inactive feet can affect the ankles, knees, hips, and spine, creating tension and instability higher up the chain.
Nothing ages the body quite like weak feet.
After creating space, we begin activating the deep intrinsic muscles within the feet. These small stabilizing muscles often become sleepy and underused, but they are essential for supporting the body and maintaining balance.
Using a hand towel, chair, and pillow for support, we gradually bring this work into standing. You will begin discovering how the feet should spread, plant, and stabilize underneath you to support balance and efficient movement.
This class helps rebuild strength in the feet while restoring their role as the body’s foundation.
